Reflections
Just a little over 6 months ago Taylor and I heard our baby boy cry for the first time. It was a breath taking moment, our lives would be forever changed. We had become a family.
Over the past couple of months I realized that I had never shared our birth story. So better late than never...here is it.
It was a Monday morning, at about 7:20am when Taylor parked our car at work. I had been telling him all weekend that I really didn't want to go back to work this week because I was 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant and things were starting to wear on my body. I had been having contractions all weekend long and in communication with the doctor who was waiting for them to become more regular.
I asked Taylor to walk to my classroom with me, we didn't even make it to the door. I knew, it was time to go. The doctors office was not yet open so we decided to stop at the store to get some coffee and then we took a walk around Venetian Gardens until it was time to go in.
I remember our doctor examining me and saying "It's go time"! We were prepared with all of the hospital bags in the car, so we went straight across the street and checked into the hospital.
At around 10am the doctor came over and broke my waters, pitocin was started to induce the labor and I requested an epidural. Things were moving along slowly and stopped progressing around 7pm. At 10pm, and 3 epidurals later the decision was made to have a Cesarian within the next 30 minutes we were in the operating room preparing to meet our baby boy.
At 10:55pm the love of our lives was born! Cade has been a blessing in so many ways. Watching Taylor take care of both of us for the first 2 weeks after delivery when I wasn't able to move made me fall in love with him all over again. Being a mommy is such an amazing feeling and I couldn't be happier!
