I believe that we are born with happiness in our hearts, although people and life events will try to take it away it is our responsibility to keep it and cherish it. In the months after the birth of Cade I found a new meaning of love, a mothers love is one that simply cannot be challenged but I found that there were clouds stifling the happiness within my soul.
I also believe that you can't expect anyone else to be happy with you until you are happy with yourself....And this is where I found the disconnect.
During my pregnancy I was concerned with the amount of weight I had gained, solely because I had worked so hard over the past couple of years to get to where I was physically. I had lost over 60lbs with nothing but hard work and unremitting dedication. I planned everything for my post partum recovery, I planned to breast feed and I planned my workouts and diet. Little did I know, the world wasn't fond of my plans because I had a c-section, I didn't produce milk worthy of my child's tummy and I was physically unable to walk for a couple of weeks.
Within the first two weeks of having Cade I lost 20lbs without really trying. I attribute that to the gallons of water that I had resting in my feet! Over the summer I slowly gained the majority of that weight back with a poor diet and complete lack of exercise. I felt mentally and physically exhausted.
Once we made the decision to relocate to Canada I knew that this could bring me the opportunity I had been looking for...it was time to move those clouds and find the happiness within myself that I had lost. I contacted someone in the fitness industry that was well known for working with female clients that compete in the fitness and bodybuilding industry. I honestly didn't think he would be willing to take me on as a client but I was willing to try. He did!! Bless that man!! His name is PJ Braun, owner of Braunfitness.
I started the day after Christmas, the cleanse period was a challenge and being on a keto diet is never much fun but the results started to show and I enjoyed the outcome. Within the first two weeks I had lost twelve pounds! I stayed on this diet for two more weeks and lost two pounds per week. Then...I had my allergy episode that landed me in the hospital and kept me out of the gym for a good four weeks.
It's now March and I've just gotten back to my diet and exercise plan. I have to admit...I have been slacking. I am down a total of 17lbs but I didn't lose anything last week which was a wake up call and the whole reason I decided to write about my weight loss journey. You see, I've realized that we only get out as much as we put in to something. If I give it my all then I will see some amazing things happen.
Cheers!
